A Model Y's cargo area is three surfaces, not one: the main floor, the molded grooves along each side, and the deep well under the floor panel. Most products address the first and ignore the other two, which is why owners end up buying twice. Decide up front which of the three you are protecting.
If you are protecting against spills and dirt, you want the main floor and specifically the loading edge — the lip at the back where everything is dragged across. If you are trying to stop shopping sliding about, a liner does nothing and you want side bins or a trunk organizer instead. These are different problems with different answers, and shops sell them as though they were the same thing.

1. Best overall
3D MAXpider cargo liner
The raised lip at the loading edge is the detail that matters — it is what stops a spill running out over the bumper and down the paint. Thin enough that you keep the cargo height. Covers the main floor only.
Best for: Protecting the main cargo floor without losing usable depth
Fits: Model Y (2020-2024) · Model Y Juniper (2025-2026)
What works
- The raised loading-edge lip is what stops a spill running out onto the bumper
- Thin enough that you do not lose meaningful cargo height
What does not
- Covers the cargo floor only — the under-floor well needs its own piece
- Expensive for what is, functionally, one molded sheet
Manufacturer specifications
- Same three-layer construction as the footwell liners
- Shaped to the cargo well with a raised lip at the loading edge
- Separate part numbers per Model Y generation
Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

2. Best for the side grooves
Motrobe trunk mat and side-bin set
Turns the molded channels either side of the Juniper cargo floor into usable bins instead of dust traps. Five-seat layout only, and the bins mean the floor is no longer perfectly flat.
Best for: Juniper owners who want the cargo floor and the side wells covered together
Fits: Model Y Juniper (2025-2026)
What works
- Turns the side grooves — normally wasted space — into usable bins
- Juniper-specific, so it does not sit proud at the wheel arches the way a legacy part does
What does not
- Five-seat layout only; the seven-seat cargo floor is a different shape
- The bins reduce how flat the floor is when you want to slide something long in
Manufacturer specifications
- Built for the 2025-2026 Juniper five-seat cargo bay
- Side-bin design that uses the molded grooves either side of the cargo floor
- Wipeable surface
Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

3. Best as part of a kit
TAPTES all-weather floor mat and trunk mat set (6 pieces)
If you have not bought footwell mats yet, buying the cargo liner inside a six-piece kit is much cheaper than buying it alone — and this kit includes the sub-trunk well too. Juniper only.
Best for: Juniper owners who want every surface covered in one purchase
Fits: Model Y Juniper (2025-2026)
What works
- The cheapest route to full coverage — footwells, cargo floor, under-floor well and frunk in a single box
- Juniper-specific tooling, which matters because the refreshed cargo floor and frunk tub changed shape
What does not
- Fit at the edges is a step behind 3D MAXpider and WeatherTech in independent comparisons
- A six-piece set is a lot of material to store if you only wanted the front mats
Manufacturer specifications
- Six pieces: first row, second row, cargo floor, sub-trunk and frunk
- Molds made specifically for the 2025-2026 Juniper body, not adapted from the legacy car
- TPE construction
Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

4. Best for the hidden well
Under-floor storage bins (Model Y)
The sub-floor well is the most wasted volume in a Model Y. Bins make it usable while keeping the cargo area looking empty. You have to lift the floor panel to reach anything, so it suits what you need rarely.
Best for: Dividing the deep well beneath the cargo floor
Fits: Model Y (2020-2024) · Model Y Juniper (2025-2026)
What works
- The sub-floor well is the single most wasted volume in a Model Y, and bins make it usable
- Everything stays below the load floor, so the cargo area still looks empty
What does not
- You have to lift the floor panel to reach anything, so it is for things you need rarely
- Bins reduce the well's total volume slightly
Manufacturer specifications
- Bins shaped to the sub-floor well under the main cargo floor
- Separate Juniper and legacy listings
- Rigid dividers with lift handles
Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

| Sub-floor bins | No | Yes, below the floor | Yes |
Generation fitment
The Juniper cargo floor is not the same shape as the 2020-2024 car's, and the six-seat Model Y L is different again with a third row in the way. Buy from a listing that names your year. If you have a seven-seat 2020-2024 Model Y, check that too — the folded third row changes the floor.
Questions people actually ask
Is a cargo liner the same as a trunk mat?
No. A cargo liner is molded with a raised edge, including at the loading lip. A trunk mat is usually flat. If you are carrying anything that might leak, you want the liner.
Do I need a liner for a dog?
A liner protects the floor but does nothing about the sides, which is where a dog actually scuffs. A proper boot liner with side walls, or a dedicated cargo cover, is the right product. See [cargo liner vs trunk mat](/floor-mats/cargo-liner-vs-trunk-mat).
What is under the Model Y cargo floor?
A deep storage well. It is unstructured, which is why bins are the cheapest meaningful storage upgrade in the car. See [under-floor storage bins](/frunk-trunk-storage/under-floor-storage-bins).
Will a 2023 cargo liner fit a 2025 Model Y?
No. The refreshed cargo floor changed shape. Buy to your generation.
