Model Y L Sunshades: What Fits the Longer Roof (2026)

A short page, honestly. The Model Y L roof aperture is its own shape and very little is cut for it yet.

Fitment: Model Y L (2026+, six-seat) · Full Model Y L fitment guide

Rear three-quarter view of a white Tesla Model Y in a plain indoor showroom

The Model Y L is a six-seat, long-wheelbase Model Y: two front seats, two second-row captain's chairs, and a two-seat third row. It launched in China in June 2025 and reached the United States in July 2026. The roof glass extends further back than on a five-seat Model Y, so a Juniper roof shade is short — not slightly, but by the length of the third row.

Two products are worth your attention and the rest of the category has not caught up. We are not going to pad this page out with five-seat shades and a suggestion that you make them work.

1. The one credible roof shade

JOWUA glass roof sunshade for Model Y L

JOWUA

Genuinely cut for the stretched Model Y L roof, including the third-row glass a five-seat shade cannot reach. With so few alternatives there is no competitive pressure on price, and no independent fit reporting exists yet for a body that only reached the US in July 2026.

Best for: The six-seat Model Y L, whose roof aperture is its own shape

Fits: Model Y L (2026+, six-seat)

What works

  • Genuinely tooled for the stretched roof rather than a Juniper shade sold as close enough
  • Covers the third-row glass, which is the part a five-seat shade cannot reach

What does not

  • Very few alternatives exist, so there is no competitive pressure on price
  • No independent fit reports yet — this body only reached the US in July 2026

Manufacturer specifications

  • Cut specifically for the longer Model Y L roof
  • Mesh fabric, folding storage, same construction as the Juniper shade
  • Sold in JOWUA's dedicated Model Y L collection

Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

JOWUA windshield sunshade

JOWUA

Listed for the Model Y L as well as the Juniper, and it is the shade that does the most work on any car. Only helps while parked.

Best for: Anyone who parks outside — the highest-value shade you can buy

Fits: Model Y Juniper (2025-2026) · Model Y L (2026+, six-seat) · Model Y (2020-2024) · Model 3 Highland (2024-2026) · Model 3 (2017-2023)

What works

  • Solves the actual parked-heat problem — the windshield is the biggest single heat aperture in the car
  • Far cheaper than a roof shade and takes fifteen seconds to deploy
  • Cut to shape, so there is no gap at the corners where a universal shade leaves one

What does not

  • Only works while parked, unlike a roof shade which works while driving
  • Has to be stowed somewhere when you drive off

Manufacturer specifications

  • Black mesh fabric with a silver anti-light coating
  • Manufacturer claims up to 99% UV blocking
  • Cut to the specific windshield shape; listed for Juniper and Model Y L

Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

What is still missing

  • Side and quarter-glass shades for the longer body. The per-aperture sets are all cut for the five-seat car.
  • Any meaningful choice of roof shade — one credible option is not a market.
  • Independent fit reporting, because the car is only months old in this market.

The Model Y L fitment page collects everything confirmed to fit this car across all six categories, and the floor mat fitment note covers the same situation for liners. We will expand both into full roundups when there is genuinely something to compare.

Questions people actually ask

Will a Juniper roof shade fit a Model Y L?

No. The Model Y L's roof glass extends further back over the third row. A five-seat shade leaves the rear section uncovered.

Does the Model Y L have the same windshield as a Juniper?

JOWUA lists its windshield shade for the Juniper and the Model Y L together, which indicates a shared windshield outline. Confirm on the listing before ordering.

When will more shades be available?

Tooling follows volume, and the Model Y L only reached the US in July 2026. Expect the selection to broaden through 2027.
