Two different cars get searched with the same words, and they have different fitment problems. Getting them straight first saves buying the wrong part.
The seven-seat Model Y and the Model Y L are not the same car

Seven-seat Model Y: what changes
Only what is behind the second row. The stowed third row sits under the cargo floor, which changes the floor shape and makes the sub-floor well shallower, and the rear sill area differs enough that several sill sets are listed for five-seat layouts only.
- Check seat count on: cargo liners, trunk organizers, sub-floor bins, rear door sills and trunk-sill guards.
- Do not worry about: front and rear footwell mats, console parts, screen protectors, roof shades, seat-back protection.
- The full breakdown is in five-seat vs seven-seat fitment.

1. Works on both cars
Yeslak seat-back kick protector
A published fitment range spanning Model 3 and Model Y from 2017 through 2026 and later, and because it hangs on a front seat rather than clipping into body trim it transfers to multi-row cars. A universal outline is looser than a bespoke one, and the pocket is shallow.
Best for: One part that covers every Model 3 and Model Y generation
Fits: Model Y (2020-2024) · Model Y Juniper (2025-2026) · Model Y L (2026+, six-seat) · Model 3 (2017-2023) · Model 3 Highland (2024-2026)
What works
- The broadest fitment claim in this group, which simplifies buying for a two-car household
- Waterproof surface means spilled drinks wipe off rather than soak in
What does not
- A part that fits everything fits nothing perfectly — expect a slightly generic outline
- Pocket is shallow compared with the BASENOR equivalent
Manufacturer specifications
- Waterproof, stain-resistant microfibre leather surface
- Integrated storage pocket
- Listed as fitting Model 3 and Model Y from 2017 through 2026 and later
Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

2. Model Y L only
JOWUA glass roof sunshade for Model Y L
Cut for the longer Model Y L roof including the third-row glass. With almost no competition there is no pressure on price, and no independent fit reporting exists yet.
Best for: The six-seat Model Y L, whose roof aperture is its own shape
Fits: Model Y L (2026+, six-seat)
What works
- Genuinely tooled for the stretched roof rather than a Juniper shade sold as close enough
- Covers the third-row glass, which is the part a five-seat shade cannot reach
What does not
- Very few alternatives exist, so there is no competitive pressure on price
- No independent fit reports yet — this body only reached the US in July 2026
Manufacturer specifications
- Cut specifically for the longer Model Y L roof
- Mesh fabric, folding storage, same construction as the Juniper shade
- Sold in JOWUA's dedicated Model Y L collection
Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

3. Both cars, published fitment
JOWUA windshield sunshade
Listed for the Juniper and the Model Y L, which makes it one of the few parts with published Model Y L fitment. Parked use only.
Best for: Anyone who parks outside — the highest-value shade you can buy
Fits: Model Y Juniper (2025-2026) · Model Y L (2026+, six-seat) · Model Y (2020-2024) · Model 3 Highland (2024-2026) · Model 3 (2017-2023)
What works
- Solves the actual parked-heat problem — the windshield is the biggest single heat aperture in the car
- Far cheaper than a roof shade and takes fifteen seconds to deploy
- Cut to shape, so there is no gap at the corners where a universal shade leaves one
What does not
- Only works while parked, unlike a roof shade which works while driving
- Has to be stowed somewhere when you drive off
Manufacturer specifications
- Black mesh fabric with a silver anti-light coating
- Manufacturer claims up to 99% UV blocking
- Cut to the specific windshield shape; listed for Juniper and Model Y L
Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

Model Y L: what transfers and what does not
The useful rule is that anything attached to the front of the car or to the front seats transfers, and anything attached to the body behind the second row does not.

Buying for a third row at all
Third-row coverage is the clearest gap in both cars. On a seven-seat Model Y the third row is a tight occasional space and the market has largely ignored it. On a Model Y L it is a genuine seating row with no dedicated accessories at all. In both cases, soft and shape-agnostic products are the practical answer: a non-slip mat cut from a roll, a collapsible organizer, clear protection film for a sill edge.
What not to do
- Do not trim a molded liner to fit. A cut edge no longer contains water, and in a footwell a trimmed mat can move.
- Do not buy Model Y L parts for a seven-seat Model Y, or the reverse. They are different bodies.
- Do not assume a five-seat cargo liner will do on either. The cargo floor is the surface most affected by extra rows.
- Do not force a frunk organizer. The frunk is the one compartment unaffected by seating, so a Juniper part is the right starting point on both cars.
The Model Y L fitment page collects everything confirmed for that car across all six categories.
Questions people actually ask
Is the Model Y L a seven-seater?
No, a six-seater: two front seats, two second-row captain's chairs and a two-seat third row. The seven-seat Model Y was a different configuration of the 2020-2024 car with a second-row bench.
Will five-seat accessories fit a seven-seat Model Y?
Everything forward of the second row, yes. Cargo liners, trunk organizers, sub-floor bins and rear sill parts may not.
Will Juniper accessories fit a Model Y L?
Screen protectors and the windshield shade yes, with published fitment. Front-console, frunk and seat-back parts very likely but unconfirmed. Floor liners, roof shades, cargo parts and sills no.
Is anything made for the third row?
Almost nothing, on either car. Soft, shape-agnostic products and clear protection film are the practical answer for now.
