This page exists because a lot of sites publish Model Y frunk dimensions to the millimeter and those numbers disagree with each other. We are not going to add another set. A wrong internal dimension is exactly the error that makes someone buy a box that stops the hood closing, and it is the one mistake this site cannot afford to make.
What Tesla actually publishes
Tesla publishes total cargo volume for the vehicle rather than individual compartment dimensions. That total combines the rear cargo area, the sub-floor well and the frunk, measured to a standard that is not broken out per compartment. It is a useful number for comparing cars and useless for buying a frunk organizer.
What we can state with confidence, from the generation record and from how brands tool their parts, is relative: the refreshed 2025-2026 Juniper frunk tub is deeper than the 2020-2024 car's, and the Model 3 frunk is considerably shallower than either. That is why frunk organizers are sold per generation and why cross-fitting them fails.
| Claim | Status |
|---|---|
| Total vehicle cargo volume | Published by Tesla |
| Frunk tub length, width and depth | Not published by Tesla; third-party figures disagree |
| Juniper frunk is deeper than 2020-2024 | Supported by the generation record and by brands tooling separate parts |
| Model 3 frunk is much shallower than Model Y | Consistent across every source and every product listing |
| Model Y L frunk matches the Juniper | Likely, since the nose is shared — but unpublished |
Measure your own, in two minutes
- Open the hood and empty the frunk completely.
- Measure the floor length front to back at the center, and the width at the narrowest point rather than the widest — the narrowest point is what limits a rigid box.
- Measure the depth from the floor to the lip the hood seals against, not to the top of the surrounding bodywork. This is the measurement people get wrong and it is the one that decides whether the hood closes.
- Subtract about a centimeter from your depth figure as clearance. A box that is exactly as deep as the tub will foul the hood seal.
- Compare against the product's stated external dimensions, not its capacity in liters.

1. Juniper — clips in, no measuring needed
Yeslak front trunk organizer (Juniper)
Listed specifically for the 2026 Juniper frunk and clipped rather than loose, which removes most of the fitment risk a dimension would have told you about. Fixed sections, and rigid plastic knocks when the tub is empty.
Best for: Juniper owners who want the frunk split into fixed sections
Fits: Model Y Juniper (2025-2026)
What works
- Clips in, so it does not slide around an empty frunk the way a loose bag does
- Rigid walls keep a charging cable from collapsing into the rest of the space
- Juniper-specific: the refreshed frunk is deeper and a legacy organizer does not match it
What does not
- Fixed sections mean you cannot carry one large awkward item
- Rigid plastic can knock audibly against the tub when the frunk is nearly empty
Manufacturer specifications
- Polypropylene construction, described by the manufacturer as waterproof
- Three-section layout that clips into the frunk tub
- Listed specifically for the 2026 Juniper frunk
Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

2. The dimension-tolerant option
Spigen frunk divider
A padded divider adapts to the tub it is in far better than a molded box, which makes it the safer buy when you cannot verify a dimension. It contains less — small items still migrate.
Best for: Owners who want structure without noise
Fits: Model Y (2020-2024) · Model Y Juniper (2025-2026)
What works
- The silicone padding is the reason this is the quiet option — rigid boxes are the ones that rattle
- A divider keeps the frunk's full depth available instead of boxing it in
- Easy to lift out when you need the whole space
What does not
- Less containment than a full organizer — small items still migrate
- Two sections only, so no dedicated slot for small tools
Manufacturer specifications
- Divider rather than a full box, with silicone padding at the contact points
- Designed to split the frunk into two usable halves
- From an established accessory brand
Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

3. Completely shape-agnostic
Insulated frunk cooler bag
A soft insulated bag conforms to whatever tub it is placed in, so no measurement is required at all. Soft insulation holds cold for an hour or two, not a day.
Best for: Groceries and tailgates, in the frunk rather than the cabin
Fits: Model Y (2020-2024) · Model Y Juniper (2025-2026) · Model 3 Highland (2024-2026) · Model 3 (2017-2023)
What works
- The frunk is the one compartment in the car with no cabin-air connection, so it is the right place for cold food
- A bag conforms to the tub where a rigid cooler fights it
- Lifts straight out to carry
What does not
- Insulation in a soft bag is modest — this is an hour or two of cold, not a day
- Takes most of the frunk, so it is not something you leave in permanently
Manufacturer specifications
- Insulated foam-lined bag sized to sit inside the frunk tub
- Used alongside a molded organizer rather than instead of one
- Zip closure
Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

The way to avoid needing a measurement at all
Buy a part listed for your specific generation, which is the whole reason this site is organized that way — a clipped Juniper organizer in a Juniper frunk has already solved the dimension problem for you. Failing that, buy something shape-tolerant: a padded divider or a soft bag adapts where a molded box cannot.
For the products themselves see Model Y frunk organizers, and Juniper vs 2020-2024 frunk fit for what changed between the generations.
Why we do it this way
Publishing a dimension we have not verified would make this page look more authoritative and would occasionally cause someone to buy the wrong part. Telling you how to get the number for your own car is less impressive and more useful. That trade is the whole editorial position of this site.
Questions people actually ask
What are the Tesla Model Y frunk dimensions?
Tesla publishes total vehicle cargo volume rather than frunk dimensions, and third-party figures disagree. Measure your own: floor length, narrowest width, and depth to the hood seal lip, then allow about a centimeter of clearance.
Is the Juniper frunk bigger?
The refreshed tub is deeper than the 2020-2024 car's. We can state the relative difference confidently; we are not going to quote an absolute figure we cannot source.
Which measurement matters most?
Depth, measured to the lip the hood seals against. Too tall is the failure that stops the hood latching.
Does the Model 3 frunk fit a Model Y organizer?
No. It is considerably shallower and the hood will not close.
