Juniper vs 2020-2024 Model Y: Frunk Fitment

The refreshed frunk is deeper. That makes a legacy organizer sit low, and a Juniper organizer stop a legacy hood closing.

The 2025 Model Y refresh changed the frunk. The refreshed tub is deeper than the 2020-2024 car's, which is a genuine improvement in usable space and a genuine problem for parts compatibility.

What the difference actually does

The second row of that table is the one that matters, because it is the failure you notice immediately and the one that can do harm. A hood that will not latch properly is not a cosmetic issue.

How to tell which car you have

Do not use the model year — cars delivered in early 2025 could be either and markets changed over at different times. Look at the front of the car instead: the refreshed Model Y has a full-width light bar across the nose, and the 2020-2024 car has separate headlights with no bar. That check takes two seconds and is unambiguous.

Inside, the Juniper has an ambient light strip running round the cabin, and Premium and Performance trims have a rear screen in the back of the console. The full set of differences is in the sunshade fitment comparison, which covers the same identification problem.

What else changed at the same time

In other words the 2025 refresh touched every category on this site. That is why the whole site is organized by generation rather than by product type, and why a listing that says "Model Y" with no year is not a fitment claim.

How to buy safely

  1. Identify the car from the front light bar.
  2. Buy from a listing that names a year range, not a model name.
  3. Prefer brands that sell the two generations as separate products rather than variants of one listing.
  4. Before loading an organizer, close the hood. Do this on the first fit, while everything is still returnable.

The right organizer for each frunk

The refresh changed the frunk tub's depth and shape, which is why this is two products rather than one.

Yeslak front trunk organizer (Juniper)

Yeslak

Listed for the refreshed frunk specifically. The deeper Juniper tub is the reason a legacy organizer sits proud in one of these.

Best for: Juniper owners who want the frunk split into fixed sections

What works

  • Clips in, so it does not slide around an empty frunk the way a loose bag does
  • Rigid walls keep a charging cable from collapsing into the rest of the space
  • Juniper-specific: the refreshed frunk is deeper and a legacy organizer does not match it

What does not

  • Fixed sections mean you cannot carry one large awkward item
  • Rigid plastic can knock audibly against the tub when the frunk is nearly empty

Manufacturer specifications

  • Polypropylene construction, described by the manufacturer as waterproof
  • Three-section layout that clips into the frunk tub
  • Listed specifically for the 2026 Juniper frunk

2. For the 2020-2024 Model Y

Spigen frunk divider

Spigen

A divider rather than a tub, which is the more sensible approach in the shallower legacy frunk — it stops things sliding without eating the depth you have.

Best for: Owners who want structure without noise

What works

  • The silicone padding is the reason this is the quiet option — rigid boxes are the ones that rattle
  • A divider keeps the frunk's full depth available instead of boxing it in
  • Easy to lift out when you need the whole space

What does not

  • Less containment than a full organizer — small items still migrate
  • Two sections only, so no dedicated slot for small tools

Manufacturer specifications

  • Divider rather than a full box, with silicone padding at the contact points
  • Designed to split the frunk into two usable halves
  • From an established accessory brand

Questions people actually ask

Is the Juniper frunk bigger?

The refreshed tub is deeper than the 2020-2024 car's. Tesla publishes total cargo volume rather than tub dimensions, so we are not going to quote a figure we cannot source.

Will a legacy frunk organizer fit a Juniper?

It will go in, sit low and slide around. It is not dangerous, just poor value — you lose the extra depth you paid for.

Will a Juniper organizer fit a 2023 Model Y?

Probably not. It will stand too tall and the hood may not close. Do not force it.

How do I tell a Juniper from a legacy Model Y?

The full-width light bar across the nose. The refreshed car has one; the 2020-2024 car does not.
