The pre-Highland Model 3 ran for seven model years, which is long enough that the aftermarket is mature and short enough that almost everything is still in stock. The footwell shape held across the whole run. What changed, in 2021, was the console: a new lid, a revised wireless charging pad and different trim. That does not affect footwell mats, but it does mean some brands split their Model 3 listings at 2021, and an unwary buyer reads that split as a floor change and gets confused.

Scores are our editorial assessment of fitment scope, published materials and coverage. They are not lab measurements and we have not tested these products.

1. Best overall
WeatherTech FloorLiner
On a car this age, WeatherTech's per-year fitment lookup is the most valuable thing in the category — it names 2017 through 2023 individually rather than lumping them together. Rigid underfoot, as always.
Best for: Snow-belt owners who want the deepest tray walls available
Fits: Model Y (2020-2024) · Model Y Juniper (2025-2026) · Model 3 (2017-2023) · Model 3 Highland (2024-2026)
What works
- The tall perimeter wall is the most convincing containment in this category for slush and road salt
- A long-standing fitment database means the year you own is usually explicitly listed, not implied
What does not
- The rigid material is the least pleasant underfoot of the premium options and can creak on a cold morning
- Finish is utilitarian — nobody buys these because they look good
Manufacturer specifications
- High-density tri-extruded material with raised channel walls
- Digitally measured per vehicle and per model year
- US-manufactured; the company's own fitment lookup is by year, make and model
Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

2. Best fit
3D MAXpider KAGU all-weather floor liners
3D MAXpider's KAGU line covers the pre-Highland Model 3 with the same laser-measured approach as its Model Y liners. The hard top surface and the piece-by-piece pricing are the costs.
Best for: The 2020-2024 Model Y owner who wants the best-fitting liner and will pay for it
Fits: Model Y (2020-2024)
What works
- The fit reputation in this category is largely built on these liners — edges follow the footwell rather than sitting on top of it
- The raised lip holds meltwater and grit instead of letting it run under the mat
- Piece-by-piece buying means you can skip the cargo liner if you already have one
What does not
- One of the most expensive ways to cover a footwell, and buying the pieces separately adds up fast
- The hard top surface is noticeably less forgiving underfoot than carpet
Manufacturer specifications
- Three-layer construction: a carbon-fiber-pattern top surface, an XPE core and an anti-skid base
- Thermoplastic rubber, laser-measured to the specific footwell
- Sold as separate first-row, second-row and cargo pieces
Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

3. Best mid-price set
Tesloid TPE floor mat set
Generation-scoped Model 3 listings at a reasonable price. A shallower wall than WeatherTech's, and fewer independent fit reports to cross-check.
Best for: Owners who want a mid-price TPE set with per-generation part numbers
Fits: Model Y (2020-2024) · Model Y Juniper (2025-2026) · Model 3 (2017-2023) · Model 3 Highland (2024-2026)
What works
- Catalog is organized by generation, which cuts the main risk in this category
- Sits between the budget sets and the premium liners on price
What does not
- Perimeter wall is shallower than WeatherTech's, so heavy slush can escape the mat
- Smaller brand means fewer independent fit reports to cross-check
Manufacturer specifications
- TPE mats listed separately per Model 3 and Model Y generation
- No-drill, drop-in fitment
- Sold as front, rear and cargo pieces
Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

4. Lowest-risk buy
Tesla all-weather interior liners (factory)
Still sold for this generation, still fitment-guaranteed. Containment is modest and the price has not fallen with the car's age.
Best for: Owners who want guaranteed fitment and do not want to research it
Fits: Model Y (2020-2024) · Model Y Juniper (2025-2026) · Model Y L (2026+, six-seat) · Model 3 (2017-2023) · Model 3 Highland (2024-2026)
What works
- Fitment is not a judgment call — Tesla lists the car it fits
- Retention hooks line up with the factory anchors, so the mat cannot creep toward the pedals
What does not
- Perimeter walls are shallower than the aftermarket winter liners
- Usually priced like a premium liner without the premium containment
Manufacturer specifications
- Sold by Tesla against a specific VIN-eligible model and year
- Molded to the factory footwell with factory retention points
- Available for both Model 3 and Model Y generations
Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

5. Budget pick
Yeslak all-weather floor mats
The right call on an older car you are not precious about. Looser edges, thinner material, much lower price.
Best for: Budget full-car coverage where premium fit is not the priority
Fits: Model Y (2020-2024) · Model Y Juniper (2025-2026) · Model 3 (2017-2023) · Model 3 Highland (2024-2026)
What works
- Among the cheapest ways to get a raised-edge mat under every foot
- Yeslak publishes separate Juniper and legacy listings rather than one catch-all
What does not
- Edge fit is visibly looser than the premium liners, especially around the driver's dead pedal
- Thinner material, so it is more likely to curl at a corner over time
Manufacturer specifications
- All-weather mats listed per Model Y and Model 3 generation
- Textured surface with a raised edge
- Sold individually and as multi-piece sets
Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

What ages badly on an older Model 3
On a car that is now several years old, the carpet in the driver's footwell is usually the worst-looking part of the interior, and it is the cheapest thing to hide. A liner over tired carpet does more for how the cabin feels than almost any other purchase at this price. That is a legitimate cosmetic reason to buy, and we would rather say so plainly than dress it up as performance.
If the carpet is already stained, clean it before you cover it — a liner traps whatever is underneath. Our cleaning guide covers the order of operations.
Don't buy Model Y parts
The Model 3 and Model Y share a platform and do not share a footwell. This is the single most common mis-order in the category, helped along by listings that say "Model 3/Y" as though one mat could serve both. For a molded liner, it cannot.
Questions people actually ask
Does a Model 3 come with floor mats?
Yes — carpeted mats. All-weather liners have always been a separate purchase.
Will Highland mats fit my 2022 Model 3?
No. The Highland footwell changed. Buy from a listing that names 2017-2023.
Did the 2021 update change the floor?
No. It changed the console lid and the charging pad. Footwell mats are unaffected, though console accessories are not.
Are Model 3 and Model Y mats interchangeable?
No, despite the shared platform. A liner molded for one will not seat correctly in the other.
