Model 3 Highland (2024-2026)

Best Sunshade for the Model 3 Highland (2024-2026)

The Model 3 roof is smaller than a Model Y's, which changes the maths: the windshield shade matters more here, not less.

Fitment: Model 3 Highland (2024-2026) · Full Model 3 Highland fitment guide

Car interior looking up through an open roof aperture

A Highland's glass roof is smaller than a Model Y's, and that changes the recommendation. On a Model Y, a roof shade is a meaningful comfort upgrade because there is a large area of glass directly above your head. On a Model 3, the same purchase delivers less, because there is less glass to shade and the windshield is a proportionally bigger share of the heat getting in.

So on this car we would say it more strongly than we do elsewhere: buy the windshield shade first, and only buy the roof panel if overhead glare genuinely bothers you after that. This is not a cheaper recommendation because it is easier — it is the one that gets you the most comfortable car per dollar.

1. Best overall

JOWUA sunshade bundle for Model 3

JOWUA

Pairs the roof panel with the windshield shade, which is the right combination on a Model 3 because the roof alone does less here than it does on a Model Y. Separate Highland and pre-Highland listings rather than one catch-all. If you only want one of the two, the bundle is wasted money.

Best for: Model 3 owners who want roof and windshield covered in one purchase

Fits: Model 3 Highland (2024-2026) · Model 3 (2017-2023)

Value9.0
Overall8.6/ 10 — our editorial score, not a lab test

What works

  • Buying the pair is cheaper than buying each separately and covers the two apertures that matter
  • Separate Highland and pre-Highland listings rather than one catch-all

What does not

  • You may only want one of the two, in which case the bundle is wasted money
  • The Model 3 roof is smaller than the Model Y's, so the roof shade's benefit is smaller too

Manufacturer specifications

  • Bundle pairing the roof shade with the windshield shade
  • Per-generation listings covering both the earlier Model 3 and the Highland
  • Mesh roof panel, coated windshield panel

Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

JOWUA windshield sunshade

JOWUA

Cut to shape, claimed to block up to 99% of UV, and it solves the parked-heat problem that actually makes a Model 3 unpleasant in August. Only works parked, and has to be stowed when you drive.

Best for: Anyone who parks outside — the highest-value shade you can buy

Fits: Model Y Juniper (2025-2026) · Model Y L (2026+, six-seat) · Model Y (2020-2024) · Model 3 Highland (2024-2026) · Model 3 (2017-2023)

Build8.5
Value9.5
Overall9.0/ 10 — our editorial score, not a lab test

What works

  • Solves the actual parked-heat problem — the windshield is the biggest single heat aperture in the car
  • Far cheaper than a roof shade and takes fifteen seconds to deploy
  • Cut to shape, so there is no gap at the corners where a universal shade leaves one

What does not

  • Only works while parked, unlike a roof shade which works while driving
  • Has to be stowed somewhere when you drive off

Manufacturer specifications

  • Black mesh fabric with a silver anti-light coating
  • Manufacturer claims up to 99% UV blocking
  • Cut to the specific windshield shape; listed for Juniper and Model Y L

Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

3. Best mid-price pick

KUST custom-cut sunshade

KUST

Cut per vehicle at a mid-market price with Highland listings available. Fewer independent fit reports than the Tesla specialists.

Best for: Owners who want a cut-to-shape shade without the premium-brand price

Fits: Model Y (2020-2024) · Model Y Juniper (2025-2026) · Model 3 (2017-2023) · Model 3 Highland (2024-2026)

What works

  • Cut-to-shape fitment at a mid-market price
  • Covers both cars, so household fleets can standardize

What does not

  • Less independent fit reporting than JOWUA or BASENOR
  • Variant naming is less clear than the Tesla-specialist brands

Manufacturer specifications

  • Cut per vehicle rather than sold in generic sizes
  • Listed across Model 3 and Model Y variants
  • Folding storage

4. Budget pick

EcoNour windshield sunshade

EcoNour

Sized rather than cut, so there will be gaps at the pillars and the foil will crease permanently. Cheap enough to replace when it does.

Best for: The cheapest meaningful improvement to a hot parked cabin

Fits: Model Y (2020-2024) · Model Y Juniper (2025-2026) · Model 3 (2017-2023) · Model 3 Highland (2024-2026)

Fit6.5
Heat8.5
Storage8.0
Build7.0
Value9.5
Overall7.9/ 10 — our editorial score, not a lab test

What works

  • Costs a fraction of a car-specific shade and removes most of the greenhouse effect anyway
  • Easy to replace when it eventually creases

What does not

  • Sized rather than cut to shape, so expect gaps at the A-pillars
  • Foil creases permanently and looks tired faster than coated fabric

Manufacturer specifications

  • Reflective foil windshield shade sold in size ranges rather than per-car patterns
  • Folds into a sleeve
  • Widely stocked

The 2024 fitment boundary

The Highland refresh changed the Model 3's roof structure along with everything else, so pre-Highland shades do not fit. The reliable way to tell which car you have is the steering column: no indicator stalk means Highland. The 8-inch rear screen and the ambient light strip around the cabin are the other giveaways, and all three are faster than looking up a build date.

What about the rear window?

The Highland's rear glass is steeply raked and takes a lot of afternoon sun, and almost nobody sells a shade for it on this car. If you carry a rear-facing child seat, the side-glass shades are the ones that will actually help — see side window and rear shades, noting that the current sets are Model Y-focused.

Questions people actually ask

Will a 2022 Model 3 sunshade fit a Highland?

No. The Highland roof changed. Buy a shade listed for 2024 onward.

Is a roof shade worth it on a Model 3?

Less so than on a Model Y, because there is less glass overhead. Buy the windshield shade first. Add the roof panel if overhead glare still bothers you.

How do I install a Model 3 sunshade?

Clip the panel edge into the trim channel at one end and work along it until the far end seats. A couple of minutes, no tools. Our [installation guide](/guides/how-to-install-a-tesla-sunshade) covers the two places people go wrong.

Are electric or retractable Model 3 shades any good?

They are convenient and expensive, and the mechanism is an extra failure point. For a shade you intend to leave in all summer, a folding panel is the better engineering. See [retractable vs fixed panel](/sunshades/retractable-vs-fixed-panel).
