Console Organizers

Full Tray vs Insert Bins: Which Console Setup

One big molded tray, or several separate pieces. The answer depends on whether you want tidiness or capacity.

There are two philosophies for fixing a Tesla console. One is a single molded tray that drops into the armrest bin and subdivides it in a fixed layout. The other is a set of separate inserts — a tray here, a bin there, a cup piece, a charger mat — that you combine. Both are sold as console organizers and they behave quite differently.

The case for a single tray

Fewer parts means fewer edges touching trim, and in a quiet EV cabin that genuinely matters. A single molded tray that fits well is the quietest option, it is the cheapest, and it is one thing to lift out and rinse. If your complaint is that the bin is a pit where everything disappears, a tray fixes that completely.

The case for separate pieces

A fixed layout wastes space whenever what you are carrying does not match it. Separate inserts let you divide the armrest and leave the under-screen shelf alone, or vice versa, and you can take a piece out when you need the volume. The best sets exploit this: the armrest divider with a concealed lower layer is doing something a flat tray cannot.

Our call

  • If you want one purchase and the quietest result: a single molded tray, in TPU rather than ABS.
  • If you want the most from the space: the four-piece sets, accepting slightly more contact noise. Start with the Juniper set or the Highland set.
  • If you are unsure: buy the armrest divider on its own. It is the piece with the highest effect and it tells you whether you want more.

One thing both approaches share: no adhesive. Pieces that locate on friction and shape leave no residue and come out when you sell the car. Treat adhesive as a reason to choose something else, in either category.

One of each approach

This decision is really about whether you want the console reorganized or just subdivided.

1. Best single tray

BASENOR under-screen console organizer tray

BASENOR

One piece, no adhesive, non-slip base. It adds a usable shelf in the dead space under the screen without committing you to a whole-console system you then have to live with.

Best for: The dead space under the touchscreen

Fits: Model Y (2020-2024) · Model Y Juniper (2025-2026) · Model 3 (2017-2023) · Model 3 Highland (2024-2026)

What works

  • Turns a shelf that items slide straight off into a usable tray
  • No adhesive means no residue when you sell the car

What does not

  • A friction fit can shift if you load it heavily and corner hard
  • Single-purpose — it does nothing for the armrest bin or cup holders

Manufacturer specifications

  • Non-slip base, no adhesive required
  • Shaped to the shelf beneath the center display
  • Listed across Model Y and Model 3 fitments

2. Best full system

BASENOR 4-piece center console organizer set

BASENOR

Four pieces that reorganize the entire console rather than adding to it. More useful if the open bin genuinely bothers you, more intrusive if it does not.

Best for: Juniper and Highland owners reorganizing the whole console in one go

Fits: Model Y Juniper (2025-2026) · Model 3 Highland (2024-2026)

Overall9.1/ 10 — our editorial score, not a lab test

What works

  • TPU absorbs vibration where rigid ABS transmits it, which is the single biggest cause of console rattle
  • The hidden armrest compartment is the piece that actually changes how you use the car day to day
  • One set covers every surface in the console instead of leaving gaps between parts

What does not

  • Four pieces means four opportunities for a slightly loose edge
  • Soft TPU picks up marks more readily than a hard plastic tray

Manufacturer specifications

  • Four pieces: console tray, armrest storage box, armrest hidden storage and a cup-holder insert mat
  • TPU rather than ABS
  • Listed for the 2025-2026 Model Y Juniper and 2024-2026 Model 3 Highland

Tesery

A tray with internal dividers — more structure than a plain shelf, less commitment than a full set.

What works

  • Buy exactly the one piece you want with no bundle
  • Simple shape means fewer edges to fit badly

What does not

  • Hard plastic, so it can click against the console on rough surfaces
  • Does nothing for the armrest or the cup wells

Manufacturer specifications

  • Single molded tray for the console well
  • Listed across Model Y and Model 3 fitments
  • Drop-in, no adhesive

Questions people actually ask

Do more pieces mean more rattle?

All else equal, yes — more contact edges against trim. TPU pieces mitigate it enough that a good four-piece set is quieter than a poor single ABS tray.

Can I mix brands?

Yes, and plenty of owners do. The pieces do not interlock, so there is no compatibility problem — just check that two parts are not competing for the same space.

Which is better value?

A set is cheaper per piece; a single tray is cheaper overall. If you would use everything in the set, the set wins.

Will a tray fit under the sliding console lid?

A part designed for your car will. A tray that stands proud of the console rim can foul a sliding lid, which is a real risk on a Model 3 Highland.
