The BASENOR under-screen tray is the one to buy. It is made for exactly this shelf, it is listed for all four Model Y and Model 3 generations, it needs no adhesive, and it turns the single most wasted volume in the cabin into somewhere a phone, a wallet and a pair of sunglasses live instead of sliding around on a flat surface.
That shelf exists because the touchscreen is a floating panel on a console rather than a dashboard-integrated display. There is usable depth behind and below it, Tesla did not divide it, and so by default it is a smooth plastic plane that everything slides off the moment you take a corner with any commitment.
What actually fits in there
This is a shallow space and the trays that use it are correspondingly shallow. Setting the expectation properly is most of the value of this page, because the listings photograph these trays loaded with more than they comfortably hold.
| Item | Fits | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Phone, laid flat | Yes | The most common use, and the reason the non-slip surface matters |
| Sunglasses, folded | Yes | Flat arms; a thick wrap-around frame may sit proud of the lip |
| Wallet or card holder | Yes | Key cards included |
| Charging cable, coiled | Yes | This is where a short cable belongs |
| Small notebook or passport | Yes | Fits flat |
| Water bottle | No | Wrong shape and wrong depth — that is what the cup holders are for |
| Handbag or small backpack | No | Nothing in this category takes a bag |
The one thing to check before ordering
The console shape changed between generations, and under-screen parts are among the most generation-sensitive in the cabin because they key off the bezel below the display. A tray cut for the Juniper and Highland console does not sit correctly in a 2020-2024 Model Y, and a tray cut for the older console leaves a visible gap in a newer car.
Two of the picks above are listed across all four generations and two are not, which is the single most important distinction on this page. If you are not sure which console you have, the fitment pages will tell you in under a minute, and Highland vs Juniper console fitment covers the newer pair specifically.

1. Best overall
BASENOR under-screen console organizer tray
The part made specifically for this space, listed across 2020-2024 Model Y, Juniper, 2017-2023 Model 3 and Highland. Non-slip and no adhesive, so nothing is permanent and nothing is left behind if you sell the car. It is a shallow tray and it will not swallow a bag.
Best for: The dead space under the touchscreen
Fits: Model Y (2020-2024) · Model Y Juniper (2025-2026) · Model 3 (2017-2023) · Model 3 Highland (2024-2026)
What works
- Turns a shelf that items slide straight off into a usable tray
- No adhesive means no residue when you sell the car
What does not
- A friction fit can shift if you load it heavily and corner hard
- Single-purpose — it does nothing for the armrest bin or cup holders
Manufacturer specifications
- Non-slip base, no adhesive required
- Shaped to the shelf beneath the center display
- Listed across Model Y and Model 3 fitments
Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

2. Best if you are fixing the whole console
TOPABYTE 3-piece console accessory set
Covers the cup holders, the bezel and the charging pad in one order, so the under-screen shelf stops being the only tidy surface in an otherwise loose console. Listed across all four generations. You are buying a set, so you pay for pieces you may not want.
Best for: Owners who want the cup holders, bezel and charging pad sorted at once
Fits: Model Y Juniper (2025-2026) · Model 3 Highland (2024-2026) · Model Y (2020-2024) · Model 3 (2017-2023)
What works
- Addresses three different annoyances for roughly the price of one accessory
- The charger mat stops a phone sliding off the pad under braking, which is a real and common irritation
What does not
- Three pieces chosen by the manufacturer, not by you — you may only want one
- Cup-holder insert is a mat rather than a structural insert, so it steadies cups less than a molded one
Manufacturer specifications
- Cup-holder insert, screen edge protector frame and wireless-charger mat
- Listed as compatible with the 2026 Model Y Juniper
- Three separate pieces, no adhesive
Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

3. Best single tray on a budget
Tesery console tray
One tray, all four generations, no set to buy into. The least refined of the three and the one most likely to look like an accessory rather than part of the car.
Best for: A single tray without buying a set
Fits: Model Y (2020-2024) · Model Y Juniper (2025-2026) · Model 3 (2017-2023) · Model 3 Highland (2024-2026)
What works
- Buy exactly the one piece you want with no bundle
- Simple shape means fewer edges to fit badly
What does not
- Hard plastic, so it can click against the console on rough surfaces
- Does nothing for the armrest or the cup wells
Manufacturer specifications
- Single molded tray for the console well
- Listed across Model Y and Model 3 fitments
- Drop-in, no adhesive
Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

4. Best for Juniper and Highland specifically
BASENOR 4-piece center console organizer set
A four-piece set cut for the newer console shape, which is the generation where the under-screen shelf is largest and most obviously unused. Juniper and Highland only — it does not fit the older consoles.
Best for: Juniper and Highland owners reorganizing the whole console in one go
Fits: Model Y Juniper (2025-2026) · Model 3 Highland (2024-2026)
What works
- TPU absorbs vibration where rigid ABS transmits it, which is the single biggest cause of console rattle
- The hidden armrest compartment is the piece that actually changes how you use the car day to day
- One set covers every surface in the console instead of leaving gaps between parts
What does not
- Four pieces means four opportunities for a slightly loose edge
- Soft TPU picks up marks more readily than a hard plastic tray
Manufacturer specifications
- Four pieces: console tray, armrest storage box, armrest hidden storage and a cup-holder insert mat
- TPU rather than ABS
- Listed for the 2025-2026 Model Y Juniper and 2024-2026 Model 3 Highland
Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

Where this sits against the rest of the console
The under-screen shelf is the cheapest console fix and the one with the most immediate effect, because it is the surface your hand reaches for most. It is not a substitute for the bin under the armrest or for dividing the deep lower console, which are both larger-volume problems.
If you want the whole console sorted in order of effect: this tray first, then cup-holder inserts because rattle is the most audible annoyance in the car, then the lower console if you actually use it for storage rather than for charging cables. Full tray vs insert bins covers that last decision properly.
For the generation-specific roundups with the full set of options rather than the under-screen subset, start from your car: Juniper, Model Y 2020-2024, Model 3 Highland or Model 3 2017-2023.
And if the reason you are here is that small items rattle rather than that they are untidy, a non-slip tray fixes some of that and a cup-holder insert fixes more of it. The cup-holder insert guide is the cheaper first move.
Questions people actually ask
What is the space under the Tesla screen for?
Nothing in particular — it is a flat shelf created by the floating touchscreen and left undivided by Tesla. An under-screen tray turns it into usable storage for a phone, sunglasses, a wallet and a short cable.
Do under-screen trays fit both the Model Y and the Model 3?
Some do. The BASENOR tray and the TOPABYTE set are listed across 2020-2024 Model Y, Juniper, 2017-2023 Model 3 and Highland. Other parts are cut for the newer console only.
Do they need adhesive?
They should not. A correctly shaped tray is held by friction and by the shelf itself. Avoid anything that needs tape on console trim.
Will a tray block the wireless charging pad?
Not if it is the right part — the under-screen shelf is above and behind the charging pad. A multi-piece console set includes a pad surround precisely so the two do not fight each other.
