Tesla's front console cup wells are wide, shallow and smooth-sided. They take a large takeaway cup comfortably, which is presumably the design target. What they do badly is hold anything narrower: a slim can, a tall insulated bottle, a small coffee cup. Those rattle against the sides on every expansion joint, slide when you corner, and occasionally tip.
This is the most universally recognized small annoyance in these cars, and an insert fixes it for a few dollars. That is the whole page. If you want to know what fits what, read on; if you just want the fix, buy the molded insert.

The diameter trade-off
An insert works by making the well smaller, which means the largest thing you could previously fit may no longer go in. If you regularly carry a wide insulated tumbler, check the insert's internal dimension before buying — this is the one real reason not to fit one. Rear cup holders
The rear center armrest holders on both cars are a different shape and most inserts do not cover them. They are also less of a problem, because rear passengers are not usually putting a narrow can in them at speed. If rear rattle is your complaint, a thin mat cut to the well is the practical answer.

Does a Tesla Model Y have cup holders?
Yes — two in the front console and holders in the rear center armrest on most configurations. The complaint is that the front wells are wide enough that narrow cups rattle.
What size cups fit a Tesla cup holder?
A standard large takeaway cup fits comfortably; a wide insulated tumbler is tight. Fitting an insert reduces the maximum diameter, so measure your usual cup first.
Will an insert stop cups rattling completely?
A molded soft insert gets close. A flat mat only reduces it, because it adds friction at the base without narrowing the well.
