Door sill protectors are sold as a set of four pieces for the door openings, and that framing gets the priority backwards. The door sills get scuffed, which is cosmetic. The painted lip at the rear of the cargo opening gets gouged, because every bag of compost, bike wheel and suitcase is dragged across it — and that damage is visible, permanent and expensive to put right.

1. Best overall
QINQINTU carbon-fiber-finish door sill protector set
The most complete set for a Juniper: front and rear sills plus bumper guard pieces, with roughly a twenty-minute no-drill install quoted by the manufacturer and a trim-specific listing rather than a generic Model Y part. The carbon-fiber pattern is a strong look, and adhesive-backed trim is the hardest kind to remove cleanly years later.
Best for: Juniper Premium and Performance owners who want full sill and bumper coverage
Fits: Model Y Juniper (2025-2026)
What works
- The rear bumper lip is where almost all real loading damage happens, and this set actually covers it
- No drilling and no permanent modification
- Trim-specific listing rather than a generic Model Y part
What does not
- Carbon-fiber pattern is a strong look that will not suit every car
- Adhesive-backed trim is the hardest kind to remove cleanly years later
Manufacturer specifications
- Carbon-fiber-pattern finish over an ABS substrate
- Set includes front and rear sills plus bumper guard pieces
- Listed for Juniper 2025-2026 Premium and Performance trims; manufacturer quotes roughly a twenty-minute no-drill install
Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

2. Most coverage
BestEvMod 5-piece door sill protector set
Five pieces including the rear bumper and the trunk sill cover, which is the painted edge that actually gets damaged. Rigid ABS can lift at the ends on a curved sill, and five adhesive pieces means five chances to misalign one.
Best for: Covering sills, rear bumper and trunk sill in one purchase
Fits: Model Y Juniper (2025-2026)
What works
- The widest piece count here — the trunk sill is a genuinely vulnerable painted edge
- One order rather than sourcing bumper pieces separately
What does not
- Rigid ABS can lift at the ends on a curved sill where TPE would follow it
- Five adhesive pieces means five chances to get the alignment wrong
Manufacturer specifications
- Five pieces: front sills, rear sills, rear bumper and trunk sill cover
- Listed for the 2026 Model Y
- ABS construction
Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

3. Most discreet
Lasfit matte TPE door sill protector
Matte TPE that disappears against the factory trim and flexes over the sill curve instead of bridging it, with better wet grip underfoot than smooth plastic. No bumper or trunk-sill pieces, and matte TPE shows dust.
Best for: Owners who want sill protection nobody notices
Fits: Model Y (2020-2024) · Model Y Juniper (2025-2026)
What works
- Matte black disappears against the factory trim — the opposite of the carbon-fiber look
- TPE flexes over the sill curve instead of lifting at the ends like rigid trim does
- Grippier underfoot in the wet than a smooth plastic sill cover
What does not
- No bumper or trunk-sill pieces in the set
- Matte TPE holds dust more visibly than a gloss finish
Manufacturer specifications
- Matte TPE rather than glossy plastic or metal
- Front and rear sill pieces
- Shaped to the Model Y sill profile
Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

4. Best plain finish
3W door sill protector (Juniper five-seat)
Scoped explicitly to five-seat Juniper models, with a plain finish that ages better than a patterned one. No bumper or trunk coverage, and seven-seat owners need to look elsewhere.
Best for: Low-maintenance sill coverage on a five-seat Juniper
Fits: Model Y Juniper (2025-2026)
What works
- Explicitly scoped to the five-seat layout, which the seven-seat sill differs from
- Plain finish ages better than a patterned one
What does not
- Does not cover the bumper or trunk sill
- Five-seat only, so seven-seat owners must look elsewhere
Manufacturer specifications
- Listed for Juniper 2025-2026 five-seat models
- Focused on durable, wipe-clean coverage rather than decoration
- Front and rear sill pieces
Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

The adhesive problem
Almost everything here is adhesive-backed, and that is a real downside that listings do not mention. Removing adhesive trim from a painted sill in three years' time takes heat, patience and an adhesive remover, and a careless removal can lift paint at the sill edge. It is the reason we prefer flexible parts that locate on shape where they exist.
If you do fit adhesive trim: clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol, dry it completely, do it somewhere warm, and do not rush the alignment. You get one attempt per piece.
Five-seat or seven-seat
Several sets are listed for five-seat layouts only, because the rear sill area differs on a seven-seat Model Y. This catches people out, and it is a return rather than a workaround. See five-seat vs seven-seat sill fitment.
Who should skip this
If you own the car outright, do not plan to sell soon, and are not bothered by scuffed sills, skip the door pieces entirely and buy just a trunk sill guard. Sill scuffing is the most purely cosmetic damage on this list, and there is no shame in deciding it does not matter to you.
Questions people actually ask
Are door sill protectors worth fitting?
The trunk sill and rear bumper pieces, clearly yes — that painted edge takes real damage. The door sills themselves are cosmetic, so it depends on whether scuffing bothers you or whether you are returning a lease.
Do they need drilling?
No. Every set here is adhesive or clip-fit with no drilling. Never buy a sill part that requires drilling.
Will adhesive trim damage the paint?
Properly removed, usually not — but it takes heat, patience and an adhesive remover, and a careless removal can lift paint at a sill edge.
Will Model Y sills fit a seven-seat car?
Not necessarily. Several sets are listed for five-seat layouts only. Check that the listing names your configuration.
