Model Y Juniper (2025-2026)

Rear Screen Protectors for the 8-inch Back Seat Display

The rear screen sits at child height and controls the entertainment. It is the better-justified half of a two-screen purchase.

The same caveat applies here as everywhere in this hub: Tesla's owner's manual advises against fitting a touchscreen protector and states that damage caused by installing one is not covered by the warranty. That guidance does not single out the front display.

That said, if you are going to fit a protector anywhere in the car, the rear screen is where the case is strongest. It sits in the back of the center console at roughly child head height, it controls music and video, and it is touched by passengers who are not being careful. Unlike the front display, which is touched by a driver's fingertip, the rear screen gets handled.

1. Best overall

Tesery front and rear display tempered protector

Tesery

Front and rear pieces in one set, listed for both the Juniper and the Highland. Buying both does double your exposure to the risks in Tesla's own guidance, and the set is pointless on a 15.4-inch Juniper RWD or AWD, which has no rear screen.

Best for: Cars that have a rear screen as well as the center display

What works

  • The rear screen is the surface children actually touch, and most sets ignore it
  • One purchase covers both displays

What does not

  • Only useful on trims that have a rear screen — the 15.4-inch Juniper RWD and AWD do not
  • Buying both pieces doubles the exposure to the risks in Tesla's own guidance

Manufacturer specifications

  • Front and rear screen pieces in one set

QHD

Bundles the 8-inch rear cover with the 16-inch front protector, which matches exactly the trims that have both. Wrong part entirely for an RWD or AWD Juniper.

Best for: 2026 Model Y Premium and Performance, where 15.4-inch parts do not fit

Overall8.2/ 10 — our editorial score, not a lab test

What works

  • One of the few parts that explicitly addresses the 16-inch panel instead of pretending every Juniper is 15.4-inch
  • Bundling the rear cover matches the trims that actually have a rear screen

What does not

  • A newer, less-established brand than the Tesla specialists
  • If you have an RWD or AWD Juniper this is the wrong part entirely

Manufacturer specifications

  • Cut for the 16-inch 2560 x 1440 display fitted to Model Y Premium and Performance

What works

  • Front and rear pieces in one purchase

What does not

  • Matte costs some sharpness, as it always does
  • The explicit 2026 exclusion means you must know your trim, not just your model year

Manufacturer specifications

  • Matte coating described by the manufacturer as glare-reducing while retaining HD clarity

Buy the pair or the rear alone?

Front-and-rear sets are usually only marginally more expensive than the front piece alone, which makes them look like obvious value. The counter-argument is Tesla's guidance: two protectors is twice as much applied over a touch layer the manufacturer asked you not to cover. If you find that reasoning persuasive for the front display, it should be persuasive for the rear one too.

Our view: if children use the rear screen, fit the rear piece and consider a bezel frame at the front instead. That targets the real risk and minimizes what you cover.

Questions people actually ask

Does my Model Y have a rear screen?

Only if it is a Juniper Premium or Performance, or a Model Y L. The 15.4-inch RWD and AWD Junipers and all 2020-2024 cars do not have one.

Is the rear screen the same size on the Highland and the Juniper?

Both are 8 inches. Confirm the listing names your car, because mounting position and bezel shape can still differ.

Does Tesla's warning apply to the rear screen too?

The manual's guidance is about the touchscreen and does not carve out the rear display. Treat it as applying to both.

Is a rear screen protector worth more than a front one?

Arguably yes. The rear screen is handled by passengers rather than touched by a driver's fingertip, so the physical risk it faces is genuinely higher.
