A new Model Y or Model 3 is delivered with carpeted floor mats fitted. So the literal answer to the question is yes. The reason people keep asking it is that the mats are not what they were expecting: when someone asks whether a Tesla comes with floor mats, they almost always mean all-weather liners — the molded rubber or TPE trays with raised edges — and those are a separate purchase.
What you get, and what you do not
| Item | Included with a new car? |
|---|---|
| Carpeted front and rear mats | Yes |
| All-weather molded liners | No |
| Cargo floor liner | No |
| Sub-trunk well liner | No |
| Frunk liner | No |
| Mud flaps | No |
Are the factory mats any good?
For dry use, yes. They look right because they match the interior, they are quieter underfoot than any liner, and they do the basic job of keeping the carpet beneath them clean. What they cannot do is contain water. Carpet absorbs, and once a Tesla's footwell mat has had a winter's worth of slush in it, getting it genuinely clean requires wet extraction rather than vacuuming.
That is the whole case for buying liners, and it is conditional on your circumstances rather than universal. A garaged car in a dry climate with no dog and no children genuinely does not need them.

Scores are our editorial assessment of fitment scope, published materials and coverage. They are not lab measurements and we have not tested these products.

1. If you want factory liners
Tesla all-weather interior liners (factory)
Tesla's own all-weather interior liners, sold against your specific car so fitment is not a judgment call, with hooks that use the factory anchors. Walls are shallower than the aftermarket winter liners, at a premium price.
Best for: Owners who want guaranteed fitment and do not want to research it
Fits: Model Y (2020-2024) · Model Y Juniper (2025-2026) · Model Y L (2026+, six-seat) · Model 3 (2017-2023) · Model 3 Highland (2024-2026)
What works
- Fitment is not a judgment call — Tesla lists the car it fits
- Retention hooks line up with the factory anchors, so the mat cannot creep toward the pedals
What does not
- Perimeter walls are shallower than the aftermarket winter liners
- Usually priced like a premium liner without the premium containment
Manufacturer specifications
- Sold by Tesla against a specific VIN-eligible model and year
- Molded to the factory footwell with factory retention points
- Available for both Model 3 and Model Y generations

2. If you want the most containment
WeatherTech FloorLiner
The tallest perimeter walls in the category and a per-year fitment catalog. The rigid material is the least pleasant underfoot and can creak when cold.
Best for: Snow-belt owners who want the deepest tray walls available
Fits: Model Y (2020-2024) · Model Y Juniper (2025-2026) · Model 3 (2017-2023) · Model 3 Highland (2024-2026)
What works
- The tall perimeter wall is the most convincing containment in this category for slush and road salt
- A long-standing fitment database means the year you own is usually explicitly listed, not implied
What does not
- The rigid material is the least pleasant underfoot of the premium options and can creak on a cold morning
- Finish is utilitarian — nobody buys these because they look good
Manufacturer specifications
- High-density tri-extruded material with raised channel walls
- Digitally measured per vehicle and per model year
- US-manufactured; the company's own fitment lookup is by year, make and model
Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

3. If you just want something cheap
Yeslak all-weather floor mats
Raised-edge mats for a fraction of the premium price, with separate per-generation listings. Looser edge fit and thinner material.
Best for: Budget full-car coverage where premium fit is not the priority
Fits: Model Y (2020-2024) · Model Y Juniper (2025-2026) · Model 3 (2017-2023) · Model 3 Highland (2024-2026)
What works
- Among the cheapest ways to get a raised-edge mat under every foot
- Yeslak publishes separate Juniper and legacy listings rather than one catch-all
What does not
- Edge fit is visibly looser than the premium liners, especially around the driver's dead pedal
- Thinner material, so it is more likely to curl at a corner over time
Manufacturer specifications
- All-weather mats listed per Model Y and Model 3 generation
- Textured surface with a raised edge
- Sold individually and as multi-piece sets
Specifications as published by the manufacturer. We have not independently tested this product.

If you do buy liners, keep the originals
Two reasons. First, never stack mats — a liner on top of a carpeted mat can slide, and in the driver's footwell that is a safety issue rather than an inconvenience. So the carpeted mats have to come out. Second, buyers notice a car with its factory mats available, and nobody pays more for aftermarket liners. Store them flat somewhere dry.
Which generation do you have?
It matters more than you would expect, because the footwells changed across these cars. Go to your generation: Model Y Juniper, Model Y 2020-2024, Model 3 Highland or Model 3 2017-2023.
If you are weighing Tesla's own liners against the aftermarket, that comparison goes through what the factory part actually buys you.
Questions people actually ask
Do Tesla Model Y cars come with floor mats?
Yes — carpeted mats. All-weather liners are a separate purchase, from Tesla or the aftermarket.
Does the Model 3 come with floor mats?
Yes, carpeted mats, same as the Model Y. No all-weather liners.
Do Teslas come with a cargo liner?
No. The cargo floor, the sub-trunk well and the frunk are all uncovered as delivered.
Should I keep the carpeted mats if I fit liners?
Yes. Store them flat and dry. Never stack them under liners — a mat that can slide in the driver's footwell is a safety problem.
